Venus Retrograde in Scorpio and Libra: October 3—November 13, 2026
Venus retrograde only happens every 18 months. And when it does, everything that planet rules — love, money, beauty, desire, values, the way we attract and are attracted — turns inward for review. This Venus retrograde begins on October 3rd at 8 degrees of Scorpio and ends on November 13th at 22 degrees of Libra. Forty-one days. Two very different signs. And a level of excavation that Scorpio in particular does not allow you to avoid.
Before I go into what this means, I want to say something that might be different from what you will hear from other astrologers: I do not follow Venus retrograde shadow periods. I have tracked them for years and personally I do not find them that eventful. If we followed every pre and post shadow period, we would never be able to do anything. So in this video we are talking about the retrograde itself — October 3rd through November 13th — and that is where your attention belongs.
Venus Retrograde in Scorpio & Libra 2026 Meaning
Venus is in detriment in Scorpio. That means it is in the sign directly opposite the one it rules — Taurus — which makes it uncomfortable, operating in territory that does not naturally suit it. Venus wants beauty, harmony, pleasure, ease. Scorpio wants truth, depth, transformation, and will not accept a pretty surface over an ugly reality. Venus in Scorpio is the planet of love being asked to go where love is afraid to go — into the shadow, into the wound, into the places we have been avoiding because the truth there is too uncomfortable to face directly.
Venus retrograde in Scorpio is the excavation. It is the planet of love and money turning its detective gaze on everything you have been feeling but not saying, everything you have wanted but been afraid to claim, every dynamic in your relationships and finances that has been running beneath the surface of what you are willing to consciously acknowledge.
Scorpio rules power, personal magnetism, and your deepest desires.
Venus retrograde in Scorpio is asking: what do you actually want?
Not what you think you should want.
Not what is safe to want.
What do you desire at the level where desire meets fear?
This is not easy territory. But here is something that gives me genuine hope about this particular retrograde — and I want you to hold this as you move through it. In the Egyptian terms — an ancient system the Egyptians used for dividing the degrees of each zodiac sign into sub-rulers — Venus stations retrograde in a term ruled by Venus. And it stations direct in a term also ruled by Venus. This is significant. When a planet stations in a term it rules, it has more power and more dignity in that moment. It means that even though Venus is in detriment in Scorpio, the specific degrees where it pauses — both going retrograde and coming direct — are degrees where Venus has authority. The excavation is real. The difficulty is real. But the planet doing the excavating has the tools to do it well. The work of this retrograde will pay off. Scorpio is the Phoenix. What dies during this retrograde does not stay dead.
The Shift Into Libra and the Double Retrograde
On October 25th, Venus retrogrades back into Libra — the sign it rules. And something shifts. The Scorpio phase is the excavation. The Libra phase is the weighing. Libra is the sign of the scales, of fairness, of what is genuinely balanced and what only appears to be. Venus in Libra retrograde is asking: now that you have seen what Scorpio showed you, what is actually fair in your relationships? What is the honest accounting of give and take, of what you have offered and what you have received?
Venus rules Libra. So once it crosses back into its own sign, it has significantly more dignity and comfort than it did in Scorpio. The intensity does not disappear, but it becomes more navigable. The truth that Scorpio excavated can be processed through Libra’s capacity for genuine balance and thoughtful discernment.
And there is one more layer to this retrograde that makes it even more significant. Mercury also goes retrograde in Scorpio from October 24th through November 13th — the same day Venus goes direct. For approximately three weeks, both Venus and Mercury are retrograde simultaneously. Venus reviewing what we value and desire. Mercury reviewing how we think and communicate about those values and desires.
Two of the most personal planets retrograde at the same time in Scorpio means that both what you feel and what you say about what you feel are under review simultaneously.
This is a period for deep inner honesty, not for major external decisions.
Venus Retrograde 2026 Key Dates
October 3 — Venus stations retrograde at 8° Scorpio
Conjunct Mercury, forming a T-square with Mars in Leo and Pluto. The station itself is charged — the beginning of the retrograde arrives with tension between desire and power, between what you want and what is being demanded of you.
October 6 — Mercury conjunct Venus
The mind and the heart meet in Scorpio. Conversations that reveal something important. What you think and what you feel align — or reveal that they have not been aligned.
October 10 — Venus square Mars
The most friction-filled window of the retrograde. Desire meets will. What you want confronts what you are doing about it. Tension in relationships between partners who want different things.
October 19 — Venus square Pluto
Power dynamics in relationships and finances surface for direct confrontation. This is one of the most intense aspects of the entire retrograde. Do not force resolution — let what surfaces be seen.
October 23 — Venus Cazimi
The heart of the Sun. Venus passes through the exact center of the Sun — a moment of clarity, of illumination, of the truth about what you value becoming undeniable. This is the turning point of the entire retrograde. What becomes clear on October 23rd is the real message of this transit.
October 25 — Venus enters Libra at the Taurus Full Moon
Venus crosses back into its own sign at the same time as a Full Moon in Taurus — the sign Venus rules. The emotional peak of the Taurus Full Moon and Venus returning home simultaneously is one of the most significant moments of this entire retrograde period. Emotional clarity about what you genuinely value.
October 28 — Venus in Libra opposes Chiron in Aries
The wound around identity and self-assertion meets the planet of love and values in the sign of balance. A healing moment in relationships — where the wound and the love meet honestly.
November 4 — Venus sextile Jupiter
A generous, expansive, genuinely supportive aspect as Venus moves toward its direct station. Abundance and optimism in love and finances. A welcome breath of air after the intensity of October.
November 13 — Venus stations direct at 22° Libra
The retrograde ends. Mercury also goes direct on this same day. Both planets moving forward simultaneously after weeks of review. Whatever has been clarified, whatever has been released, whatever has been honestly faced during this retrograde now begins to move forward.
